THE FIRST RUN OF 2015

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – Casey Jones Distillery master distiller Arlon Casey Jones has announced that he will be firing up the still on Friday, Jan. 2, for the first run of the year.

This small craft distillery has just begun production, with Kentucky permitting received in October 2014. This distillation “run” will be to produce what will become “Casey’s Cut 92”, a prohibition-style corn whiskey made from a hush-hush family secret recipe in the last still built by Arlon Casey’s grandfather, Casey Jones, said a news release. Arlon Casey acquired the still, did modifications and brought it up to modern standards.

Among officials expected to witness this event are state Sen. Whitney Westerfield, Christian County Attorney Mike Foster, Christian County Judge Executive Steve Tribble, Christian County Magistrate Mark Cansler, Christian County Historian William T. Turner, U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield’s District Director Michael Pape, and Hopkinsville Mayor-Elect Carter Hendricks.

Plus, two of Kentucky’s “finest small craft distilleries” will be represented by Paul Tomaszewski, owner and master distiller of MB Roland Distillery, Pembroke, Ky., and Spencer Balentine, owner and master distiller of Silver Trail Distillery, Hardin, Ky. This unique run is by invitation only and will give an opportunity for first-hand experience with an authentic prohibition-era still and a run of spirits.

This will also serve as warm-up for the “moonshine experience” that Casey Jones Distillery will offer later in 2015, when guests will be able to have first-hand experience with how small batches of what some call “moonshine” are made, the release said. Casey Jones Distillery’s “Casey’s Cut 92” will be the first bottled spirits and will be available to the public soon at the distillery’s retail store.

“You’ll understand why Arlon Casey Jones says, ‘You can turn us up, but don’t turn us in!’” said the release.
